(New York, NY, June 9, 2009) - Letterbox Pictures (www.letterboxpictures.com) announced today that it will immediately start production on a feature documentary film about legendary New York comedy club, Comic Strip Live. The project is in anticipation of the Club's 35th Anniversary year, which begins in June, 2010. Since 1976, the club has launched the careers of top comedy stars some of whom include: Jerry Seinfeld, Eddie Murphy, Chris Rock, Adam Sandler, Paul Reiser, Larry Miller, George Wallace, and Lisa Lampanelli. The film is set for release in Summer, 2010.

"Eat, Drink, Laugh" is the tagline for the comedy club and is also the title of the film. EAT, DRINK, LAUGH will feature interviews with some of the most recognizable faces of comedy recounting their greatest memories at Comic Strip Live on their journey to superstardom. It will also feature never-before-seen footage of the club throughout its 35-year history.

"Comic Strip Live is to comedy what CBGB's was to music. The Strip is a quintessential New York comedy club that not only is intertwined with the city but also defined an era in comedy," said Abby Russell, Co-Director of EAT, DRINK, LAUGH.

"EAT, DRINK, LAUGH is the perfect project for us because it brings together our passion for comedy and documentary film," said Brent Sterling Nemetz,. Co-Director of EAT, DRINK, LAUGH. "Abby and I look forward to capturing the essence of how Comic Strip Live played a key role in the lives of some of our favorite comedians and ultimately their rise to fame."

EAT, DRINK, LAUGH teams Letterbox Pictures with Comic Strip Live's founders and owners Richie Tienken and Bob Wachs, as well as writer/ filmmaker / comedian Jeffrey Gurian. Tienken and Wachs managed Eddie Murphy for eleven years, and also managed Adam Sandler, Tony Rock and Colin Quinn.

It has been a wonderful journey over the last 35 years at The Strip," said Tienken. "Something about this place attracts stars. These comics are like family to me. We are all excited about EAT, DRINK, LAUGH because it will share some of those wonderful moments with everyone."

Some of those moments are already on film, and that archival material will be blended with current material to pay homage and tell the story of the legendary club and its impact on the comedy world. Tienken and the comics will share personal stories on-screen, many of which have not been heard before.

To coincide with the release of EAT, DRINK, LAUGH will be a book titled "Eat, Drink, Laugh " The History of the Greatest Comedy Club Of All Time," written by Gurian and Tienken. The book will recount the history of Comic Strip Live and feature interviews with Chris Rock, Paul Reiser, Larry Miller, George Wallace, Lewis Black, Susie Essman, Colin Quinn, Jim Gaffigan, Lisa Lampanelli, and many more.
